What about medicines without a 2D barcode?
Medicines introduced into the supply chain prior to 9th February 2019 may not have a 2D barcode (UI), however these medicines can still be supplied to patients and do not require to be decommissioned. Levels of FMD-compliant stock will increase over time and the volume of products requiring verification and decommissioning to be carried out will increase until all stock is compliant.
Products that are not subject to FMD legislation will also not have a UI and will not need to be scanned but can still be supplied on prescription.
