This module has been created as a refresher course for pharmacists who have completed the face-to-face flu training vaccination.
By the end of the module you will be able to:
- List the aims of immunisation
- Explain the function of the immune system and how vaccines work
- List the different types of vaccine and their composition
- Describe influenza as a vaccine-preventable disease
- Discuss the current issues and controversies regarding immunisation
- understand the legal aspects of vaccines
- Explain how to handle and store influenza vaccinations
- Demonstrate how to correctly and safely administer influenza vaccines
- Recognise and treat possible adverse effects of vaccination including: fainting, panic attacks and anaphylaxis
