There is a word in the quote above, which is key to change management – TIME.
In a fast paced and ever changing pharmacy environment that is sometimes something we do not have the pleasure of. However if we want change to successfully take place with minimum damage we have to allow time for things to change, people to adapt, emotions to settle, reluctance to turn into acceptance and for forward movement to take place.
For many of our staff engaging with HLP and the move from providing reactive advice to providing proactive advice at every opportunity, may be difficult for them to deal with. Therefore, as a leader in the pharmacy, how you manage this change is crucial to the success of HLP. Not only do we need to manage the change process itself but we also have a responsibility to consider the psychological effect of the process on our team.
