Reviewing your Goals

After you have completed your SMART goals or umbrella goals it is essential that they do not get forgotten about so no progress is made with them.

Don't write goals and forget about them - review them regularly, are you still on track, does something need to be redefined?

Keep your goals visible - having them in front of you all the time will remind you to keep on track and keep commitment and buy in

Know when to amend or extend your goal - what isn't working? have your priorities changed?

Celebrate small successes as they happen - it will help keep you on track

Make others aware of the goals - obviously those involved in the goal will need to know, but it can also be useful to tell others not involved of what you are trying to achieve, sometimes a public commitment can make us more committed to prove we can achieve something.

Top Tips when writing goals:-

  • Don't make too many goals
  • Personal goals and work goals shouldn't conflict
  • Make sure achieving one goal means you can't achieve another
  • Ensure that goals align to the business vision and values
