Preparing for Travel
Many health problems occur due to ignorance, misadventure, accidents and lack of immunity. Most problems can therefore be prevented with a little bit of planning.
When preparing for a holiday you should advise customers to do the following:-
- Investigate the area they are travelling to and assess the risk
- Put together a travel kit checklist to ensure they take everything to treat some of the common problems that affect travellers
- Arrange sufficient travel insurance
- Seek advice on which vaccinations may be required and if malaria protection is required
- Seek advice on travelling with a pre-existing medical condition
- Ensure that they have sufficient medication for any pre-existing conditions, and that they understand how to transport and store medicines e.g.insulin
