When remembering the following red flag symptoms of sepsis in adults, just think of SEPSIS:
Symptoms in Children
Red flag symptoms to look out for in children are:
- They are breathing very fast
- Has a 'fit' or convulsion
- Looks mottled, bluish or pale
- Has a rash that doesn't go away when you press it
- Is very lethargic or difficult to wake
- Feels abnormally cold to touch
Symptoms for children under the age of 5
Red flag symptoms to look out for in the child if they are not feeding, vomiting repeatedly or hasn't got a wet nappy or passed urine for more than 12 hours.
If any of the red flag symptoms are present, you must refer to the pharmacist. Ask yourself €Could it be Sepsis?€
