The cold weather can take a nasty turn to feet, especially during this party season – even more so if high heels are involved which can lead to painful blisters, corns and bunions which can be treated via OTC medications.
You can offer some self-care advice to patients to help prevent feet becoming sore.
Self-help Tips
- When considering going out, it may be worthwhile wearing wider fitting shoes.
- Taking a pair of flats to change into can help to reduce the pain from wearing heels.
- Cold weather can dry the skin on feet so perhaps advising to use a pumice stone or foot file whilst showering may resolve the issue and don’t forget to moisturise!
- Wear suitable footwear – to avoid any unexpected accidents or injuries
