Meningitis can act quickly and the impact of catching the disease can change lives for ever.  This can be devastating for families and loved ones with life changing effects - from grieving someone you love dearly or having to deal with a disability. 

Meningitis is the inflammation of the membranes that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Some bacteria that cause meningitis can also cause septicaemia (blood poisoning) and often come together. 

The risk of contracting meningitis varies depending on your age or which country you are visiting.  However, anyone can catch Meningitis.
