There are many factors which can cause hair loss in men.
Scalp ringworm – a fungal infection which appears in itchy, scaly and bald patches on the head. It’s highly contagious which can be passed on by sharing towels, sheets etc. Can be easily treated with oral medication and a medicated shampoo to lessen the spread of infection.
Psoriasis – an inflammatory condition that causes red, flaky, crusty patches of skin in addition to hair loss. This can be treated via the process of descaling. Steroids can also help to reduce inflammation.
Eczema – whilst eczema doesn’t cause hair loss, it’s the symptoms that can lead to it i.e. itchiness can cause excessive scratching and cause damage and break the hair.
Medical conditions such as Lupus or irritable bowel syndrome can lead to thinning of the hair. Treatment such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy, can also lead to loss of hair.
Vitamin deficiencies - Having a deficiency in certain vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin D, B12 and iron could lead to hair loss.
Stress - If going through a period of stress the hair follicles will fall into a state of rest meaning they stop making hair and results in thinning.
