 Here is some brief advice you can offer your customers on achieving a healthy balanced diet:

  • Base meals on starchy carbohydrates - these contain the main source of energy and nutrients
  • Eat more fruit and vegetables (five a day) - these contain essential vitamins and minerals
  • Eat more fish, including a portion of oily fish – these contain protein, vitamins and minerals
  • Cut down on saturated fat and sugar – instead switch to unsaturated fats and sugar free alternatives
  • Eat less salt - limit to no more than 6g a day (adults)
  • Keep hydrated - it is recommended to drink 6-8 glasses a day
  • Don't skip breakfast - this is the most important meal of the day!
