A child’s health is of utmost importance to parents, they are growing up fast so they will naturally want to give them the best start to life. Ensuring they look after their teeth will often be one of the main priorities. However encouraging children to eat the right types of food, alongside good oral hygiene can be a challenging task for parents!

Recent reports have shown a rise in the number of children being admitted into hospital due to tooth decay. According to Public Health England (PHE), tooth decay was the most common reason for hospital admittance for those aged 5 to 9 years old and the sixth most common procedure for those aged 5 years and under. This module will explore how you can support parents to prevent tooth decay for under 5 year olds and offer advice on good dental health.
