Ringworm is a fungal infection on the skin and is distinguished by a red rash.

The rash can be scaly, dry, swollen or itchy. Ringworm can appear anywhere on the body including the scalp and groin. The rash is usually a ring shape unless its on your face, neck or scalp.

The rash can grow or spread across the body. When ringworm is present on the scalp or face it can cause patchy hair loss.

Ringworm can be spread through close contact with an infected person or animal and infected objects such as bed-sheets and towels.
