Looking after a baby who has colic can be a very upsetting time and parents will look for reassurance and support.

You can advise parents to :-

  • Hold or cuddle the baby
  • Sit or hold your baby upright during feeding them to reduce intake of air
  • Wind your baby after feeds
  • Gently rock the baby over the shoulder
  • Pushing them in their pram or rocking their moses basket/cot
  • Give the baby a warm bath
  • Use white noise to help distract them
  • Keep feeding the baby as normal
  • Use anti-colic drops

You may want to refer parents to other professionals for advice and support such as:-

  • Cry-sis helpline - 0845 1228669
  • Refer them to their health visitor
  • Talk to their friends and family for support
