PocDoc partners with Scottish pharmacies with home CVD test

PocDoc, a UK digital health diagnostics company, is partnering with two Scottish independent pharmacy chains - Dears and Amiry & Gilbride Pharmacy - to make its home cardiovascular disease (CVD) test made available in over 35 pharmacies across Scotland.

The finger-prick test delivers instant results and provides patients with a cholesterol profile, body mass index score, NHS heart age, and a ten-year risk assessment for heart attack or stroke.

Test results and ccardiovascular health risk can be shared directly with GPs, reducing the time it would typically take for an individual to arrange and receive results back from a standard blood test.

Heart and circulatory diseases are responsible for over a quarter of all deaths in Scotland, accounting for 28 per cent of all fatalities - approximately 18,000 lives each year.

PocDoc says its partnership with the two pharmacy chains underscores their shared commitment to easing the strain on the healthcare system by prioritising preventative care and making at-home testing more accessible.

The opportunity is significant since NHS research suggests that every digital health check could save 20 minutes of a GP’s time.

Mahyar Nickkho-Amiry, managing director and superintendent pharmacist at Dears Pharmacy and Amiry & Gilbride Pharmacy, commented: “We’re proud to be part of this innovative approach to early detection. The work PocDoc is doing has the potential to make a real difference in preventing heart disease and save thousands of lives across Scotland."

PocDoc’s partnership with Dears and Amiry & Gilbride Pharmacy follows PocDoc’s partnership with Well Pharmacy in early February.
