Pharmacist Support is marking 184 years of supporting the pharmacy community with a birthday donations appeal. To coincide with the 15 April anniversary, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society has pledged support for the charity’s ‘Gift in Wills’ initiative.
The charity is calling on individuals and organisations to raise funds to meet the growing demand for its mental health and wellbeing services.
Findings from its most recent Workforce Wellbeing Survey, carried out in partnership with the RPS, highlight the scale of the issue:
- 35 per cent of pharmacy professionals rated their mental health as poor or very poor
- 87 per cent were identified as being at high risk of burnout.
“More and more people across the profession are reaching out for help,” said the charity’s chief executive Danielle Hunt. “In the past year alone, referrals for counselling increased by 23 per cent. We also saw a 15 per cent rise in the number of individuals supported through our Listening Friends peer support service.”
To mark its birthday, the charity is encouraging supporters to donate £18.40—a symbolic gesture tied to its founding year of 1841. Donations can be made via https://justgiving.com/campaign/pharmacist-support-birthday-appeal.
The RPS says its collaboration with the ‘Gift in Wills’ initiative offers members the opportunity to create a free will, while also helping to safeguard the future of vital support services for the profession.
Through the scheme, delivered in partnership with Bequeathed, individuals can secure a professionally drafted Will for Good, with access to expert legal advice. This service not only helps individuals plan for the future but also provides an opportunity to leave a legacy gift. More information can be found at: "Gift in Wills" initiative
