Diagnosis of COPD
A clinical diagnosis of COPD should be considered in patients who present with1:
The goal of COPD assessment is to determine the level of airflow limitation, the patient’s health status and the risk of future events (exacerbations, hospitalisation or death)1
Spirometry is used to assess airflow limitation in COPD but alone is not sufficient1. Individualised assessments of symptoms and future risk should also be incorporated into the management of COPD1.
