Will I still be able to return medicines to the wholesaler?
Contractors will still be able to return medicines to wholesalers in line with agreed arrangements and timescales. Under the FMD legislation wholesalers are required to verify all relevant medicines returned to them i.e. confirm they are still “active” before they can return them to stock.
It is unlikely that wholesalers will accept packs where the ATD is damaged unless the product is subject to a recall, this is because the requirement to check the ATD is intact before supply would prohibit ongoing supply to a patient.
