In order to comply with FMD all prescription-only medicines, including generics, parallel imported products and vaccines will need to be verified and authenticated.

Some medicines are exempt from the requirements of FMD and do not need to be authenticated and verified including:

• Non-prescription medicines, including OTC medicines (P and GSL medicines), vitamins, food supplements and homoeopathic medicines
• Appliances and medical devices
• Veterinary medicines
• Specials and unlicensed medicines ( although licensed products used in their manufacture would require authentication and verification)
