Adaptive immunity is provided by the presence of both T and B cells:
In adaptive immunity the response to the initial detection of the antigen develops over several days. On a 2nd exposure to the same antigen, the response is quicker as the memory B-cells differentiate rapidly into the antibody producing ‘ Plasma Cells’.
