In the guidance published on the 22nd March 2019, PHE confirmed, based on JCVI advice the range of recommended flu vaccines in 2019/20 has been extended and include those outlined below:
- Live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) - For children aged 2 to 17 years
- Egg grown quadrivalent influenza vaccine (QIVe) - For those aged 16 - 64 years
- Cell-based quadrivalent influenza vaccine (QIVc) - For those aged 16 - 64 years and those aged 65 years and over
- Adjuvanted trivalent influenza vaccine (aTIV) - For those aged 65 years and over

As recommended by the World Health Organisationa the composition of the vaccines for the northern hemisphere contain the following:
- an A/Brisbane/02/2018 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus;
- an A/Kansas/14/2017 (H3N2)-like virus;
- a B/Colorado/06/2017-like virus (B/Victoria/2/87 lineage); and
- For the quadrivalent - a B/Phuket/3073/2013-like virus (B/Yamagata/16/88 lineage).
