Requests for Post-Exposure Rabies Vaccines

Following the recent national news item about a traveller who sadly passed away from Rabies following a scratch received in Morrocco whilst on holiday a few months ago, pharmacies may receive requests for post-exposure Rabies vaccines.

Although the Green Book has schedules that can be used following a risk assessment of both incident and country all of the Numark Discount Partner PGD providers only allow for pre-exposure vaccination, so the patient will need to be signposted onwards for further assessment as this constitutes a public health risk.
