There are many different types of feedback models out there.
1. The first one is called the self-feedback model where you can try to move the focus of giving the feedback back to the individual.
- Ask the individual to comment on their own performance
- Ask them what they have done well
- What hasn’t gone so well
- What could they have done differently
- Agree next steps
2. An alternative model which may be useful when you feel you need to direct the feedback more is the OIS model.
- Observation – what did you see
- Impact – what is the result of that
- Suggestion – Possible changes to make
3. The 3rd model is the problem/feeling/reason/requirement/involvement model
This model is similar to OIS but more depth also gives the recipient the opportunity to give feedback.
