All pharmacies need to be a Healthy Living Pharmacy (HLP) by 1st January 2020 (for bricks and mortar pharmacies) to comply with the new community pharmacy contract. Distance Selling Pharmacies (DSPs) must be compliant from the 1st April 2021.

To confirm you have achieved this, you need to complete an assessment of compliance and a final self declaration (N:B you will no longer need to contact a QA provider and will not receive a HLP logo or certificate). You will need to retain the paperwork in your pharmacy.

You will need to follow the HLP Framework and all the requirements set out are applicable to all pharmacies, including DSPs, except where it is specifically noted that different requirements apply to DSPs.

You will need to ensure you have compiled evidence for each requirement as set out in the HLP Framework and be confident that the pharmacy is meeting the  framework.

There is a list of suggested evidence on the framework, this is suggestive and other forms of evidence can be used.

Numark has developed a vast number of guides, templates and videos to support you to achieve HLP status AND maintaining it. HLP status is valid for three years, therefore, you must go through the process of reaccreditation to ensure you are still meeting the HLP Framework.
