Providing feedback to your team is a critical skill to manage their performance and development.
Do we give feedback all the time? Pretty much! It’s a natural thing, especially out of the workplace. If you are a parent – you will naturally give feedback to your child, or if you a learning a new hobby, your teacher will give you feedback.
Feedback is necessary to help a person to improve. It can divided into 2 types:
- Motivational feedback contains praise and encouragement for things that are done well.
- Developmental feedback focuses on improvement and development areas. You ask the individual what needs to be improved or further developed, adding possible actions.
