This module will provide an introduction to equality and diversity. It will give you information about adopting the right approach in the workplace.
Encouraging equality and diversity and preventing discrimination in the workplace is a legal obligation but there are also ethical and commercial benefits too.
- The makeup of the UK workforce is changing - more people are continuing to work instead of retire, women now make up over half of the workforce, around 1 in 10 of the UK working age population are from an ethnic minority, and looking to the future 1 in 4 primary school aged children are from an ethnic minority
- Helps serve a diverse range of customers - Global economies including China, Brazil and India are in the worlds top 10 and offer a major market for British goods
- Enhanced Innovation - A wide range of backgrounds, skills and experience can help bring through new ideas and solutions
- Improved Problem Solving - Again having a wide mix of skills, experience and background can bring thinking from different perspectives to find solutions and new ways of working.
