The current inspection process started on the 4th November 2013 across England, Scotland and Wales and most pharmaices have now experience at least one inspection.
Pharmacies that are graded poor and those graded satisfactory who have not achieved one of the standards will be asked to complete an action plan outlining what action will be taken in order to meet the required standards. The superintendent will have to provide the action plan to the inspector within two days of receiving (by e-mail) the report, if the pharmacy is graded poor, or within five days if graded satisfactory but failed to achieve one of the standards. Therefore, this could impact on all pharmacy staff as they may be required to provide support to the superintendent in order to put the action plan together. Any action outlined in the plan must be implemented within ten working days for pharmacies graded as poor and twenty working days if graded satisfactory.
It is likely that future developments will include GPhC publishing inspection reports.
