NHS Stop Smoking Services were introduced as a national programme in 2000 to reduce the burden of smoking related illnesses on the NHS.

Most GP surgeries, hospitals, midwifery services and mental health facilities will provide these services, but they are also frequently commissioned services taking place in community pharmacies.

They take place on a one to one usually take place on a one to one basis and have been shown to positively impact the chances of an individual quitting for good. If this service is not offered in your pharmacy, ensure you have contact details to signpost customers to externally.
