Five ways to well-being
This is a concept researched and developed by the New Economics Foundation. They are a set of public mental health messages that are aimed to improve mental health and well-being. The five messages aim to make people feel happier, more positive and able to get the most out of life.
Connect - This can include connecting with friends, family and colleagues and spending time developing the relationships. During the COVID-19 outbreak, there's no doubt of an increase in the use of technology platforms to communicate, be it via social media or video calls, it has revolutionised the world!
Be Active - This can be as simple as finding a new activity that you can enjoy, it doesn't have to mean going to the gym or a for a run.
Keep Learning - Learning new skills can help to give new confidence and provide you with a sense of achievement. During lockdown, so many people have turned to learning new skills such as baking or gardening.
Give to others - This could be a small act of kindness from saying thank you through to larger acts such as volunteering. This can also help you build new social networks.
Take Notice - Being more aware of the present moment, your feelings and thoughts can positively change the way you feel about life and how you approach challenges. Taking time to enjoy the moment and environment around you can help with self-understanding.
