Those who suffer with bipolar disorder are likely to experience:-
- Manic or hypo-manic episodes (feeling high)
- Depressive episodes (feeling low)
- Potentially some psychotic symptoms during manic or depressed episodes
Everyone has changes to their mood, but those who have bipolar disorder, it can be very distressing and have a big impact on everyday life.
When someone is experiencing manic or depressive episodes, they can last for weeks or even months which can impact on a persons ability to complete day to day activities.
There is no definitive cause of bipolar disorder however research suggests that it is a combination of physical, environmental and social factors.
