Introduction
In 2023 there was a fire in a community pharmacy in Liverpool. The pharmacy was completely ruined due to both smoke and heat damage. Fires can happen anywhere, to anyone, and staff need to have an awareness of fire, its effects, responses to fire and fire prevention.
By the end of this module staff should have an awareness of and been assessed for knowledge in the following fire safety related areas:
- The Fire Triangle
- The Four Golden rules of Fire
- Fire extinguishers their types and uses
- Fire alarm testing
- Fire evacuation drills
- Responsibilities of a fire warden
- Fire logbooks
- Fire prevention
