The treatment recommended will depend on the cause of the symptoms. A customer experiencing temporary symptoms due to environmental factors or overuse of computers can make small changes to help manage or even reduce their symptoms:
Good eye hygiene €“ will help to improve dry eye symptoms especially for customers who also suffer from blepharitis. Good eye hygiene involves three key steps that should be completed once or twice a day:
- Use a warm compress to make the oil produced by the glands around the eye more liquid and easy to distribute.
- Gently massage the eye lids to move the oil in the tears around the eye.
- Clean the eyelids to remove dirt, excess oil, crusting and bacteria that may have accumulated.
