As a representative of the pharmacy, you have the opportunity to promote pharmacy services to improve both the service customers receive and increase business levels for the pharmacy.

Listen to your customers when you talk with them because they may give you some information highlighting what the pharmacy could offer them to meet their needs. For example, they may mention they want to stay healthy this winter and need to arrange a flu vaccination and this may be a service your pharmacy offers which you can recommend.

They may request a service or product that the pharmacy does not currently offer. Avoid saying that it is not something offered and instead make them aware that you will feedback that it is something they are interested in. By relaying this information back to the pharmacy you will be providing vital feedback to assist the pharmacy in moving forward with the services and products that it offers. You could also signpost them to appropriate organisations that do offer the service.

Another consideration is that a customer may benefit from having some other products delivered with their prescriptions which they could purchase from the pharmacy such as general toiletries. This will increase how much they spend with the pharmacy and also provide them with another useful service.

As part of your own development it would be beneficial to see how you could improve the service you provide. The best way to do this is to ask your customers how they found the delivery and if there are any improvements that could be made, the pharmacy team may also have feedback or suggestions as customers may have provided information regarding the service to them.

Delivering excellent customer service is something you need to continually improve to ensure the pharmacy is always ahead of the competition and your pharmacist will benefit from any further ideas or suggestions that you have.
