Risk Factors of Dementia
Researchers are trying to establish why dementia occurs in some people and not others. There are a number of known factors which can increase the risk of developing dementia some of which can be avoided others that cannot. By reducing the risk it doesn’t mean that someone will avoid developing dementia.

Many patients won’t know the links between lifestyle choices and the increased risk of developing dementia. Providing this information should be part of the advice you give to all patients but highlighting this link may be a trigger for some to make positive lifestyle changes.
