A pharmacy delivery service is designed to collect prescriptions and/or deliver medicines to customers who may not be able to get to the pharmacy for whatever reason.

Delivering medicines to customers is an important responsibility. The pharmacy needs to ensure that every customer gets the right medication along with the right information so that they take their medicines correctly.

In the role of delivery driver, there are a whole host of factors to consider such as the legal procedures which must be adhered to, your own health and safety and not forgetting the high level of service you need to provide to customers. Paying attention to all these elements is vital; they all come together to ensure you have the ability to perform your role to the highest standard.

This module is made up of three parts; understanding the essentials (pages 2-8), ensuring a safe delivery service (pages 9-13) and delivering excellent customer service (pages 14-18). It is intended for both individuals employed only to deliver medicines, and for staff who undertake this task occasionally as part of their role. It will guide you through all general elements you need to consider as part of the delivery service, although it would also be beneficial to note down any specific questions you have to ask your pharmacist upon completion.

We recommend that this training is completed in conjunction with our core Counter Excellence modules.
