If the customer is experiencing the symptoms of malaria, they must seek medical advice. If it is suspected that the customer has malaria, they will then be asked to do a blood test – a quick diagnosis and starting treatment quickly is important as can quickly escalate to a life threatening condition within 24 hours.
Malaria can be treated with medicines that will kill the parasites in the blood. The choice of medicine depends on the type of malaria the customer has, how severe their illness is and whether the malaria will be resistant to treatment.
