Being a Flu Champion in pharmacy
The role of being a flu champion is to enable you to positively promote the flu vaccination service in a number of ways:
- Know the benefits of having a flu vaccine.
- Know the ‘at risk’ groups of patients who are eligible for a free flu vaccination on the NHS – check with your pharmacist.
- Promote flu vaccinations within the pharmacy via the provision of leaflets, posters and health promotion.
- Explain how they can access the service and book an appointment.
- Engage with community organisations e.g. care homes, faith groups to promote the service.
- Remember, this is a fantastic opportunity to raise the overall profile of your pharmacy!
