Advice on routine vaccinations

The NHS Vaccinations website has a step by step guide covering routine vaccinations and when they should be given.

And some useful pictures from the website are shown below.

There are four major things we can do in the community pharmacy to assist with this process.

  1. Signpost parents / guardians / carers to the website so they can see what vaccines their child should have before returning to school
  2. Reassure them of the safety of the vaccines
  3. Remind them it not only protects their child but other people around them
  4. Advise them to contact their GP surgery with any concerns, queries or to hasten missed vaccines. (It is never too late to do this)

Don't be afraid to also forward them to the pharmacist for clinical queries
