You need to be aware of the following red flag symptoms. If a patient presents with any of the below they should be referred to the pharmacist:- 

  • They have been vomiting for more than 48 hours repeatedly with no improvement
  • Unable to keep down any fluids
  • Have signs of severe dehydration
  • They have blood in their vomit
  • They have lost a lot of weight since becoming ill
  • Vomiting episodes occur frequently
