module menu icon About Travel Sickness

Travel sickness is when a patient feels sick when travelling by car, boat, plane or train. It is also called seasickness, motion sickness, or simulation sickness.

Patients may experience dizziness, fatigue, nausea and vomiting. Vomiting may not relieve the feeling of nausea and weakness, meaning they may continue to vomit until the cause of the nausea is treated.

There are three categories of motions sickness:-

1. Motion that is felt but not seen (car/air/boat sickness)

2. Motion that is seen but not felt (films/virtual reality)

3. When motion is detected but they do not respond
