You need to be aware of the following red flag symptoms. If a patient presents with any of the below they should be referred to the pharmacist:- 

  • This is the first instance of thrush they have had
  • The patient has had 2 or more attacks in the last 6 months
  • Abnormal or irregular bleeding
  • Symptoms are no better after 7 days of treatment
  • Pregnant or suspected pregnancy
  • Sores, ulcers or blisters on the vulva or vagina
  • History of STD's
  • Patients under 16 or over 60 years of age
