Mouth ulcers are really common and can be uncomfortable and painful.
Mouth ulcers should clear up on their own within 2 weeks and they need time to heal, there isn't a quick fix.
Patients can have multiple mouth ulcers at a time and they can appear inside the lips, on the cheek or on/under the tongue.
Mouth ulcers can be triggered by things such as:-
- Hormonal changes
- Genetics
- Long term conditions
- B12 or iron deficiency
- Medications
- Stopping Smoking
- Feeling tired, stressed or anxious
- Cuts or burns from eating hard food or hot drinks
- A food intolerance/allergy
- Badly fitting dentures or braces
- Broken teeth
- Biting the inside of your cheek
