Mouth ulcers are really common and can be uncomfortable and painful.

Mouth ulcers should clear up on their own within 2 weeks and they need time to heal, there isn't a quick fix.

Patients can have multiple mouth ulcers at a time and they can appear inside the lips, on the cheek or on/under the tongue.

Mouth ulcers can be triggered by things such as:-

  • Hormonal changes
  • Genetics
  • Long term conditions
  • B12 or iron deficiency
  • Medications
  • Stopping Smoking
  • Feeling tired, stressed or anxious
  • Cuts or burns from eating hard food or hot drinks
  • A food intolerance/allergy
  • Badly fitting dentures or braces
  • Broken teeth
  • Biting the inside of your cheek
