Earache is very common, but can be very painful. It is especially common in young children.

Earache can be linked to a wide variety of causes including teething, dental abscess', earwax build up, perforated eardrums, sore throats, tonsillitis, ear infections, colds and flu.

Earache can affect one or both ears.

Some of the common symptoms patients may experience with earache include:-

  • Loss of balance
  • Rubbing or pulling the ear
  • Temperature of 38ºC or above
  • Not eating properly
  • Irritable or restless
  • Not reacting to some sounds
