You need to be aware of the following red flag symptoms. If a patient presents with any of the below they should be referred to the pharmacist:- 

  • Additional symptoms of fever, back pain, vomiting, visible blood in the urine
  • Symptoms aren't improving after a few days of treatment
  • Several bouts of cystitis
  • Pregnancy and suffering with cystitis
  • If the patient is a male
  • If the patient is a child
