Superdrug has appointed courier company Gophr to offer a UK-wide prescription delivery service following a “rigorous” information gathering process, the multiple has announced.
Superdrug said it had decided to team up with Gophr – whose website says it works with other sector players including Boots, Rowlands Pharmacy and Numark – based on its “strong” standard operating procedures, digital delivery tracking capabilities covering the journey “from store to door” and what Superdrug described as a “best-in-class doorstep experience”.
Superdrug added that it had sought assurance that deliveries would “replicate the security protocols that take place in the pharmacy itself,” with protections in place to ensure medicines are supplied directly to the patient for whom they are prescribed.
Superdrug healthcare director Ghada Beal said: “Patients want a fast, easy and convenient way to manage and order their medication and have it delivered to them safely and efficiently.
“Gophr’s extensive network of professional couriers and real-time tracking information enables us to support patients within local communities.”
Gophr’s Graham Smith commented: “Pharmaceutical delivery is becoming increasingly important, especially as pharmacists are now able to supply even more services under Pharmacy First.
“Vulnerable patients often cannot visit the pharmacy in person to pick up essential medication, while those who are perhaps time-poor cannot regularly visit the high street.
“We pride ourselves on providing an exceptional doorstep experience and highly flexible delivery, which builds those vital relationships with our clients’ patients.
“This is so important when it comes to medical drop-offs where people are reliant on their local pharmacy. It is even more vital when offering cover service, ensuring that customers always get the best service possible.”
