The Department of Health and Social Care has warned pharmacists that three brands of isosorbide mononitrate are out of stock.
In a medicine supply alert, published by Community Pharmacy England, the DHSC said Nyzamac SR 40mg modified-release capsules are out of stock until late this month and Isotard 40XL 40mg modified-release tablets are out of stock until early next month.
Zemon 40XL 40mg modified-release tablets are out of stock until early this month when they will be able to “support a partial increase in demand.”
However, the DHSC said ISMO Retard 40mg tablets are available but cannot support an increase in demand while Isosorbide mononitrate MR 50mg and 60mg preparations are also available and can support an increase in demand, including Isotard 50XL and 60XL tablets, Tardisc XL 60 tablets and Chemydur 60XL tablets.
The DHSC said that although Isosorbide mononitrate immediate release tablets are available, “patients should not be changed to these without clinical review.”
